Mae - The Everglow

One of the best pop/rock albums ever. Period.

mewithoutYou - Catch For Us The Foxes

There are no words to describe this masterpiece. I think this review here does it some justice. Just listen and be amazed.

Oh, and I agree with my friend toothandnail04 here too.

"This album has brought me to tears more than any other I've ever heard. I mean every word I say."

Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American

So you've probably heard "The Middle" about 5,000 times growing up. But did you actually bother to check out the album that the single was from? Bleed American is a great pop/rock album that boasts fantastic songwriting, lyrics, hooks and pop charm that everyone will like. Music lovers shouldn't pass this up! Unless you feel like listening to catchy music is a bad thing.

Nickel Creek - Nickel Creek

Don't judge a book by it's cover. This often quoted cliche couldn't be more true of Nickel Creek's self titled album, released in the year 2000. As someone who isn't very found of most bluegrass related music, it's safe to say that the acoustic trio from California has won my heart. Blending blistering instrumentals with heart-renching ballads, each track here is a sure winner. With vocals being shared by siblings Sarah and Sean Watkins the sound never gets old. Every track here is a pure gem, but if I had to choose my favorites they'd be the foot-tapping opener "Ode To Butterfly" and the gorgeous "Sweet Afton". If you're looking for gorgeous music played by talented musicians with an ear for incredible songwriting, this is for you.

Thrice - The Artist In The Ambulance

Thrice's masterpiece is perhaps the best combination of fantastic songwriting, powerful lyrics, and awesome musicianship I have ever heard from a four piece rock band. Sure, some may be put off by lead singer Dustin Kensrue's throaty screams and not quite yet mature singing voice, but you can't deny the passion the man has. Subtle Christian references will sure be a treat for those so inclined, but the lyrics aren't preachy whatsoever. Placed firmly in the middle of Thrice's ever growing discography, The Artist In The Ambulance represents to me the best of Thrice: enough of the old hardcore and metal stylings of their early releases mixed also with the songwriting strength of their newer albums. Simply put, it's a must have for any fan of rock music. Check it out!

A Day To Remember - Homesick

They've been described as cliche, generic, and a bad mix of genres but I see this band as just having a whole lot of FUN. Seriously, if not one chorus on this album sticks out to you, you have no soul. If you love pop-punk hooks and breakdowns, there is simply no better band in the genre. Even if you look down upon those genres, there is some serious songwriting here. Glad to see this band has finally hit their stride; their next album should be a masterpiece. Listen and enjoy!

Lack Of Updates

Sorry for those of you who check this blog. My external hard drive died and with it all my music. I've begun the process of rebuilding as I now have a new one. Hopefully before the week is out I'll post an album! Thanks for checking this music out!

Japandroids - Post-Nothing

This Canadian duo show incredible passion on their debut album. While it's at heart a lo-fi garage rock record, the ever present thick guitars and catchy drumbeats persist in making it a very pleasant listen. While the vocals and production certainly aren't everyone's thing, it's safe to say that any lover of music will find a lot to enjoy about this release. Picture a two dudes singing at the top of the lungs while playing drums and guitar with a huge smile on their face, and you have this record in a nutshell. Check it out!

Bon Iver - Blood Bank EP

I think the main reason I'm writing about this album is for the very last song. The rest of the EP is definitely sweet, but the closing track "Woods" is simply sublime. Based on a very simple set of lyrics, the song quickly transforms from a simple melody into an entire chorus of voices, each part adding a whole new element to the new song. Do yourself a favor and check out this EP, but I won't blame if you just listen to "Woods" on repeat for the rest of the day.
